In addition to building and customizing your collections, there are a few other features
of Greenstone of which you should be aware.


===== Authentication =====

Greenstone comes equipped with an [[en:user:authentication|authentication]] facility. 
This allows you to restrict collections (and individual documents) to certain users.

and utilize the browser-based customization tool.

In addition to OAI, Z3950, and SRW support, Greenstone can work with:

  * **[[en:filetype:dspace|DSpace]]**: DSpace is an open source digital repository software. Greenstone can both import and export collections in DSpace format. 
  * **[[en:developer:seaweed|Seaweed]]**: Seaweed is an API that allows you to edit websites without switching to an editor. It allows for the live editing of metadata in a collection.
  * **[[en:developer:pharos|PHAROS]]**: PHAROS is Image/Video indexing that can be installed with Greenstone.
  * **[[en:extra:fedora|Fedora]]**: The Fedora repository system
  * **[[en:user:rss|RSS]]** allows users to subscribe to a web feed informing them of updates to your collection(s)
  * **[[http://yitznewton.org/emeraldview/|EmeraldView]]** is an open-source PHP front end for Greenstone developed by Touro College Libraries.

Greenstone was built to be multilingual, and, with the [[en:language_support|support]]
 of UNESCO and the Greenstone community, parts of Greenstone have been translated into scores of
languages. You are also invited to help translate Greenstone into your language.

If you intend to create collections with documents in languages with characters 
not in the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_basic_Latin_alphabet|ISO basic Latin alphabet]],
